The original 1925 home, comprising 110m² of living space and 41m² of verandah, was carefully preserved to maintain its period charm. Key features such as the verandah structure, brickwork, mouldings and windows, were meticulously refurbished. Inside, elements like fireplaces, cornices, and ceiling roses were restored, ensuring the home’s historical character remained intact while seamlessly integrating modern enhancements.
A later renovation and extension from the 1970s/80s, which lacked architectural cohesion, was removed to make way for a well-considered expansion. The new addition introduces 308m² of additional floor space, including expanded living areas, an alfresco, carport and garage. Constructed in brick to harmonize with the existing structure, the extension features bespoke windows and mouldings, arches, an awning reinforcing the Mediterranean aesthetic desired by the owner. High ceilings contribute to an airy, light-filled atmosphere.
Significant attention was given to material selection, ensuring compliance with the City of Stirling’s character retention policy. Every detail, from restored period features to carefully curated contemporary additions, was meticulously chosen to create a harmonious balance between history and modernity.
The success of this project was achieved through a shared commitment to craftsmanship and design excellence. The result is a residence that beautifully marries history with contemporary living, offering a home that is both functional and stunning.
